A new study by the tour operator Riviera Travel reveals which European destinations offer the highest level of safety and a worry-free experience for visitors. The analysis evaluates key factors such as crime rates, street lighting, police presence, and the overall sense of security felt by tourists.
Here are the cities that secured the top positions on this prestigious list:
1. Dubrovnik (Croatia) – The Pearl of the Adriatic and a Synonym for Safety
According to the analysis, Dubrovnik convincingly secured the top spot among Europe’s safest cities, with a safety index of 44.1. Renowned for its perfectly preserved Old Town and impressive UNESCO-listed city walls, Dubrovnik is a destination where evening walks are completely safe, and tourist areas are well-lit and pedestrian-friendly. While petty crimes like pickpocketing can occur, as in any major tourist hub, violent crimes are extremely rare. The city’s welcoming atmosphere makes staying here exceptionally pleasant.
2. Tallinn (Estonia) – Northern Europe with Ultimate Security
The Estonian capital ranked second with a score of 55.8. Tallinn is famous for its medieval Old Town, one of the best-preserved in the region.
